199 pp
16 individual silkscreens
Monograph on painter and Bauhaus teacher Josef albers (1888-1976) spanning the totality of his career through 1968. The book features an section with 16 amazing, individual silkscreen prints (not cmyk) of his Homage to the Square series. These beautiful silkscreens are often cut out of the book. In this one all are still there. The book was designed by Swiss graphic designer Josef Müller-Brockmann. His choice for the Akzidens Grotesk typeface in a grid-based lay-out works perfectly with the concrete, systematic art works.
This is a rare first edition of the book, printed in 1968. The dust jacket is a bit warn as one can see in the pictures. It has some foxing on the first pages and the cover. The rest of the content is in a good condition, yellowed at the edges.
