A very nice modernist coffee table with strong Bauhaus influences. To me it almost looks like a small Mies van der Rohe building.
It combines an interesting mix of materials. A reinforced glass top that rests on black rubber shock absorbers. A white metal frame with small wooden ends to protect the floor. All functional choices with a very stylish result. The double layer is handy for magazines etc.
The design has been attributed to Elmar Berkovich for Metz&Co, 1935. I think it is of a later date, around 1950/1960, posssibly designed by De Wit.
The table is in a very good condition. A tiny bit of lacquer loss on the corners. The glass has no damage
