Early edition Pinokkio lamp, H.Th.A. Busquet, Hala Zeist 1955
The cute little Pinokkio lamp has become a real collectors item in Holland and one can understand why;
It was designed in the years after the war when recourses were scarce and people had only little to spent. By reducing the amount of metal used in the construction, the Pinokkio became an affordable lamp that brought light to many homes in Holland. It shows us you don't need much to make something beautiful.
The design is perfectly clear and simple, yet surprisingly versatile. It can be hung on the wall, or placed on a table. The round shade can be set in all directions. To adjust the height; just move the compass leg up and down the stem. It will hold in any position.
This is an early edition in yellow and soft grey. It has a porcelain and brass socket and round perforations which correspond nicely to the form of the shade. It has very few user marks for a lamp it's age, as one can see in the pictures.
