Bauhaus Original Hanau Kleinhohensonne S100, ca 1930
An amazing lamp from the Bauhaus era. It was designed for medical purposes, but the wiring has been changed to use it as a desk lamp.The geometric shape and pale green color are typical for the Bauhaus mentality and very similar to the designs by Marianne Brandt from around the same time. The sphere opens to reveals a mirror and in the upper part a lamp. On the back it has a handle to easily pick it up.
The lamp is quite big. When closed it ha a height of 28 cm. It is complete and original with some usermarks as can be sen in the pictures (a small dent on the back). The original medical bulb is present, but of course no longer functional. It is now ready to use as a normal lamp. A beautiful, very rare and iconic piece that preluded the spherical designs of the space age era.
