Globe table lamp, Aldo van den Nieuwelaar, 1967

This is the first lamp Aldo van den Nieuwelaar designed. One can already see his affinity for tubular shapes. By adding an extra curve he made it possible to hide the electrical wire inside the frame. A design solution which gives it a unique look. The frame is lacquered in a very dark brown colour. It almost looks black with a subtle warm tint. It supports a large opaline glass sphere, which softens the light beautifully. The lamp is in a very good vintage condition. Only where the glass rests on the frame the original paint has been scratched a little, this is not visible. This lamp is quite hard to find as not very many were produced.
