Rare anthracite Cubo lamp, Aldo van den Nieuwelaar

Aldo van den Nieuwelaar took a standard round fluorescent light and made it into a geometric sculpture. Designed in 1968, it was first presented in avant garde art galleries that represented artists like Francois Morellet, Sol LeWitt and Ad Dekkers.

Just before van den Nieuwelaar passed away in 2010, he supervised the production of a small number of Cubo's executed by lighting company Boops. A continuous dim button was introduced to adjust the light. The production soon halted in 2012.

Of this anthracite grey version only three were ever made. This Cubo has never been used. The condition is perfect. It comes in the original box.
