TC6, Aldo Van Den Nieuwelaar, Artimeta 1968

Before it went into production, the TC6 was presented as a "light object" in Galerie Swart. The gallery represented important members of the abstract geometric art movement like Francois Morellet who was a source of inspiration for van den Nieuwelaar. Only later, when lighting company Artimeta took it into production, the TC6 was to be called a "lamp". Artimeta produced only 148 pieces. So what is it? A lamp, or a piece of art? Does it matter? Just look at it: The relative dimensions are perfect and could not have been any different. The size of the square is determined by the standard size of a circular bulb. As Francois Morellet put it: "My motto is not to make any choices". This is a beautiful, rare ....... in an excellent condition.
