Vintage Falkland pendant, Bruno Munari, Danese 1964
Many mid-century modern design dealers are hunting for exclusive and valuable pieces. Yet let us not forget that modernism partly emerged from the wish, or even the feeling of obligation to produce good furniture, not just for the elite, but for the less wealthy average man. Here is a lamp that deserves a permanent place in the affordable design hall of fame: The unique and fantastic Falkland pendant by Bruno Munari. Beautifully elegant like a soft sculpture, yet simpy made out of a sock with rings. As it is gravity that creates its shape, it has a form anyone can comprehend. And even the light will come down naturally in decreasing gradients.
This is a vintage piece. The "sock" has two tiny holes that you will only see when you go looking for them. It can be taken of to wash (which we already did). The whole lamp folds up in a small package; easy to ship woldwide
