Rare suede EA216 softpad chairs, Eames, Herman Miller 1970's
More than fifty years after they were designed the Eames aluminium softpad chairs are still one of the most comfortable, high end chairs on the market. These are four EA216 chairs from the seventies, finished with beautiful brown suede leather, which is extremely rare. In fact, we have never seen any others like these.
The EA216 swivels. The seat height is not very low, making it a perfect chair for a lobby, or a conference room. It is also an excellent lounge chair for people who have difficulties getting up out of a low seat.
Unlike the ones produced by Vitra, these don't have a chromed frame, which is often damaged. This Herman Miller version is made of pure aluminium. Over the years it has obtained a darker, dulled patine which we like a lot, but if desired it can always be polished to shine like new,.
The four chairs are all in a fabulous vintage condition with only some scratches on the armrests, which can be polished off. The suede is beautiful. All chairs are marked with the Herman Miller logo embossed in the frame.
