Rare armchair by Hans Bellmann for Domus Schwaikheim 1960’s

An exteremly rare armchair by Hans Bellmann for Domus Schwaikheim 1960’s. I could not find a single other example of this model with armrests, allthough these round armrests really make it special (in my opinion)

Bellmann studied from 1931 to 1933 at the Bauhaus in Dessau and Berlin. He subsequently worked as an architect in the studio of Mies van der Rohe. In 1934 he returned to Switzerland and began working as a freelance architect. He started to explore furniture design with a focus on structure and simplicity, of which this chair is a beautiful and elegant example. Look at the single screw with which the seat and backrest are attached to the thin frame and also the way the steel tubes are welded together on the bottom.

The chair has some small restorations of the veneer and the frame has some signs of rust. For the rest it is in a great, fully functional condition
