Six circles make a cube. This stool, or side table by Thonet is a beautiful example of early geometric design. Designed in the early 20th century, but timelessly simple and elegant.
Thonet was the first company to produce furniture on a large, industrial scale. The invention of bending wood to create a solid construction had a huge influence on designers like Josef Hoffmann, Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer and le Corbusier and the development of 20th century modernism.
This stool is stable and overall it is in a very good vintage condition. It has some usermarks as can be seen in the pictures. The price is set accordingly. Most of the screws have been replaced at some point. The wicker seat has a few small breaks, but it is still flat and tight.
