S 826 Rocking chair, Ulrich Böhme for Thonet, 1971
Ulrich Böhme had never designed a chair befoe this one. He just admired his antique Thonet rocking chair at home and wondered why no Bauhaus functionalists had ever made one out of tubular steel. So he pitched his idea to Thonet and they loved it
The S 826 combines the bounce of a Mies van der Rohe MR10 chair with the give of a plywoood seat plus soft cushioning for extra comfort, and of course it also rocks. It's a seating experience like no other. Super comfortable and dynamic if you want it to be
The original seventies tweet fabric is in a good condition considering its age. Reupholstering is always an option if you like. The chrome frame is still perfect
